On June 4th the Australian Government announced the HomeBuilder Grant to provide eligible owners with a grant of $25,000 to build a new home, substantially renovate an existing home or buy an off-the-plan new home.
Eligible contracts must be signed between June 4th and December 31st 2020, with construction beginning within 6 months of the contract date (this has been extended from the original 3 months). Construction cannot have commenced before 4th June 2020.
This is the perfect opportunity for those looking to buy a unit or house off the plan (up to $750,000), purchase a block with approved permits or if you have a permit to extend your existing home then this may be the perfect time (extensions between $125,000 and $700,000).
The grant can also be used in conjunction with the off-the-plan stamp duty reduction and $10,000 First Home Buyer Grant, giving first home buyers a total of $35,000 towards their new home.
